Mike Stout

Mike Stout is a Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter, labor activist, and community leader whose music has championed working people and social justice causes for more than five decades. Often called the “World’s Grievance Man,” Stout first performed in New York City’s legendary folk venues alongside the generation of artists inspired by Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie. After becoming a steelworker at the Homestead Works, he used music as a rallying force during labor struggles and community organizing efforts throughout Western Pennsylvania.

Today, Stout continues to perform his original songs across the United States and Europe, blending powerful storytelling with themes of solidarity, peace, and economic justice. Influenced by folk and rock icons such as Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, and Neil Young, his performances offer a unique combination of music, history, and heartfelt advocacy.
